"There is nothing more enticing, disenchanting, and enslaving than the life at sea."
— Joseph Conrad
This line, together with the one at home page, has always captured how I feel about the ocean. Growing up in a coastal city, the sea was never just scenery to me. It was a symbol of the unknown, a vessel for discovery. In recent years, as I have grown more capable and more free to choose my own path, I have felt the adventurer in me awaken, and with it, the pull of the ocean has only grown stronger. I am often the only one on board who never gets seasick, no matter how rough the water. I am the one who feels a thrill facing the black sea before dawn. I am the one who forgets to breathe at the sight of a creature moving free in its own world. I am the one willing to spend the rest of her life protecting it.
